American Idol - Who Will Be In The Finale?
Now, you know that I can't let this day go by without posting about American Idol. I am eagerly awaiting tonight's results show. Will Syesha be sent home or will there be another American Idol shocker??
I have to say that I was expecting more out of last night's show. I was somewhat disappointed with the song choices that were made for the contestants by both the judges and the producers. I found Simon's choice of song for David Cook unusual, but he certainly pulled it off (and I do love that song).
I had hoped that Paula would pick a more youthful song for little David Archuleta. We all know he can sing the ballads. Give us something different. He's a kid after all. I did like that he chose a much more modern and upbeat song for himself. Was it the greatest version? Of course not. It was nice to see him sing and act more his age though. I give him credit for trying something new. Plus, what is up with this boy's Dad?? Apparently, he was banned from being backstage for rehearsals and is quite the Stage Dad. Poor little David. He doesn't need that drama and stress. He should have the chance to be himself and think on his own like all the other contestants. Let the kid live a little!
I've never been a real Syesha fan. So, what can I say about her performances? I agreed with Simon that choosing to sing Fever may have been a mistake. Then again, maybe she assumes she can't win and figures she'd show off her cabaret/broadway skills in hopes of impressing some people in those areas? Was it a stupid mistake or a clever choice? Either way, we really don't know what kind of artist she would be if she in fact won American Idol.
That leaves us with David Cook. I've been saying that I adore him from the beginning and I love him more each week. Simon said he won the night and I totally agree. The boy has the whole freakin' package. When I watch him perform, I wonder how anyone would not want him as the American Idol. He's going to be fantastic whether he wins or not. He's in another league compared to the other two contestants. I adore David A and think he has a fabulous voice, but he's young and needs to find who he really is as a performer. He would need real guidance, but David Cook already acts like a pro.
I've been voting for both of the Davids all season and am hopeful that they will both land in the finals. We haven't had 2 guys in the finals since Reuben and Clay. It's time for another battle of the boys!
With all that being said, I leave you with David Cook performing The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face...
