Not A Diet Guru

Whenever I'm at the gym during the early morning hours, the other women are almost always discussing one of two things - food or quick fix diets.  This is one of the reasons why I normally do my workouts in the later morning hours.  Their conversations can be quite frustrating to hear.

Today, they attempted to suck me into their web of diet myths and food cravings.  <Loud Sigh>  Without missing a beat, these women went from discussing cures for their hangovers (because we all know that alcohol will help you lose weight) to an all-liquid diet.  I guess that would go along perfectly with their love of happy hour!

Eventually, they found their way to the discussion of diet pills and naturally which one is best.  This is where they tried to pull me in.  One of the women asked me whether you could buy Phentermine without a prescription.  When I looked perplexed, she added "aren't you studying to be a nurse?"  I quickly corrected her that I am in fact studying medical transcription and know nothing about drugs and prescriptions. 

The sad part is that as they discuss these weight loss topics they are in fact supposed to be exercising, but they talk more then they workout.  If they would spend a few minutes more focusing on their workout, they might not need to look for quick fix pills and fad diets.  Personally, I love the mornings when the gym is quiet and I can get the circuit to myself.  I work-out quite a bit harder when I'm not distracted by all the conversations. 

Tomorrow morning I will go back to my late morning routine.  This is what I get for having energy this early in the morning!
